A short and pleasant walk near our Hotel will allow you to appraise that we are located in the “Folkloric Craft Center” of the city, very close to the “Administrative Government Center” which in the days of the Colony was called the “Spanish City”.
In an amiable and captivating aymara-mestizo surrounding that combines tradition and modernism, situated south-east of our Hotel the Church of the “Lord of Gran Poder” stands out as the heart of what used to be the “Indian Village”. A few blocks further up in that same direction one arrives to the “Los Andes” Street which is the center of the artisans’ settlement, who working with their hands produce the typical dress wear of the rich Bolivian Folklore for artistic presentations within the national territory as well as outside the country.
Walking south a few meters from the Hotel, you will find the “Los Aguayos” (textiles) passage, the sales stalls belonging to the cholitas (native women from the Bolivian Andes) and the tambos-K’hatus stalls in the “Leon de la Barra” Street and along the continuation of the “Maximiliano Paredes” Street.
Finally this short walk - which illustrates the intercultural identity of the present day city of La Paz - culminates in the San Francisco Basilica in which route we encounter the “Linares” Street - with its handicraft stores - and the “Witchcraft” Market.
