As soon as you arrive to “La Joya” Hotel** you will be courteously received by our receptionists who speak English and Spanish. “The hospitality and hearty atmosphere that we offer will make you feel, from the first moment, as if you were among friends... friends who receive you warmly and whom you seem to have met up with again after a long time”.
The hotel building, which from that moment on will be sheltering you, has seven floors and includes an ‘Otis’ brand elevator for the use of our guests. Each floor has a lobby or lounge area - spacious, comfortable and functional - ideal for reading, writing letters and for table games. The second floor lobby has a piano for livening up those small guest gatherings with music that is played by the guests themselves.
On the top floor of our “Lodge”, we have a sun-filled terrace with the only vantage point in the city of La Paz so you can enjoy the majestic snow-capped Illimani which is symbol of the “Government Capital City” of Bolivia. “This magnificent view illustrates the imposing symbiosis of nature, modern architecture and the capricious topography conquered by the labor force of the aymara-andean man who like the condors has found his abode on the roof of the world... in the Chukiagu-Marka mountains.”
The Hotel’s Restaurant or if you wish Room Service opens from 7:15 am to 10:30 am for continental breakfast (milk, tea, coffee or herb tea, butter, homemade jam, fruit, bread, fresh juice and eggs) which is included in the cost of your stay.
For an additional $US.0.50 (€ 0.40), you have an optional choice of:
- the Creole breakfast which consists of api (cooked purple corn brew) and llauch’a (a turnover with melted liquid cheese)
- the Andean breakfast which consists of a drink mixture of Andean cereals (amaranto, quinua, cañahua, barley and soy milk), lupin cookies and whole wheat bread
For lunch and dinner, the Restaurant offers a menu that includes delicious Bolivian and international dishes.
On Fridays you can enjoy different elements of the Bolivian folklore in our Folkloric Peña (Night Show) with live music and dancing, an opportunity to know more about the identity of the Bolivian culture.
For your communication needs we have Internet, telephone cabins, fax, reception and mailing of postcards, Bolivian Post Office mail box at the front desk, we sell: postcards, cards and stamps; rent cellular phones and have a telephone operator (24 hours).
